Prepare for Your Breastfeeding and Motherhood Journey with Intention.
Breastfeeding success isn’t about luck. It’s about preparation, support, and the right guidance.
Milk and Matrescence is more than a breastfeeding course; it’s a place to feel confident and prepared in foundational skills of feeding your baby, to be encouraged to trust your inner knowing in the midst of a lot of noise, and to feel supported as you move through this profound transition.
You’ve heard all about why you should breastfeed…
But has anybody taught you “how?”
You’ve heard that breastfeeding can be hard…
But have you heard about what you can do to get through the tough moments?
You want to give breastfeeding a try “if you’re able to” or “if your body makes enough milk…”
But do you know how you can actually set yourself up for abundant milk production?
This isn’t your Mama’s prenatal class, nor is it your standard 2 hr breastfeeding basics course.
Here’s a taste of what you’ll get from this course:
- âś… Prevent nipple pain from day one by knowing exactly how to get a functional latch
- âś…Know exactly how to support your body in producing abundant milk (spoiler- it’s not the lactation cookies 🍪)
- âś…Handle common challenges without derailing your breastfeeding plan.
- âś…Be prepared for pumping and unpack the nuance related to bottles and pacifiers for the breastfed baby, whether it is your plan or if you need it as a backup
- âś… Understand normal infant sleep patterns and how to get enough rest and nourishment in the postpartum period.
- âś… Thrive in, not just survive in, your transition to motherhood. Orient yourself in a period of profound change with a sense of direction and purpose.
- and so much more…

More Detailed Content Overview
The Value of Breastfeeding
Many people have heard the increasingly cliche phrase, “Breast is Best;” Or perhaps you’ve heard the equally unhelpful argument that there is little meaningful value to breastfeeding in the long-run. This course will offer clarity and opportunity to deeply understand the full spectrum of breastfeeding benefits—for baby, for you, and for your long-term health.
Understanding Milk Supply
Understand how milk supply actually works so you can stop second-guessing your body or turning to facebook groups for “best lactation cookie recommendations.” You’ll understand what your body requires for milk production, what commonly undermines it, and how to tell the difference between normal variation and real concern.
Starting off Strong (The Early Days + Establishing breastfeeding)
Understand what’s normal in the first hours and days after birth, including feeding patterns, normal milk production, step by step guidance on how to get a functional and comfortable latch, and preventing and addressing early challenges. This module gives you realistic expectations and practical tools to build a strong foundation from the very beginning.
Solutions to Common Breastfeeding Challenges
“My milk didn’t come in.”
“My baby wouldn’t latch.”
“I just didn’t make enough milk so I couldn’t breastfeed.”
“Breastfeeding was too painful.”
I think that most breastfeeding classes do an okay job of covering the bare minimum basics, but stories and sentiments like those above are a result of both poor professional support, and inadequate information on what to do when we experience a lactation challenge.
Here’s the thing: It’s rare that someone will try breastfeeding for the first time and never experience a single challenge or issue. In order to protect your breastfeeding goals through challenges, you need to know what to do to overcome them.
This module contains both a solid foundation in preventative measures, plus numerous care guides, “SOS” supports, and how-to’s on a variety of challenges that you can refer back to as needed, and guidance on when and how to seek further support and assessment.
Pumping, Bottles, and Pacifiers for the Breastfed Baby
Not everyone needs to use a pump in order to breastfeed—but many families do, and using these tools appropriately is incredibly important. Whether pumping is part of your long-term vision or a short-term tool to protect supply while working through challenges, this course teaches you how to use pumps and bottles in ways that truly serve your goals. You’ll learn how to choose the right pump, achieve a comfortable flange fit, support abundant milk production, store milk safely, understand how much milk babies actually need, and use bottle-feeding techniques that protect breastfeeding—topics often missing entirely from traditional classes.
Sweet Sleep in the postpartum period
Learn what’s biologically and developmentally normal for infant sleep and how to protect rest in a season that is anything but predictable. This course helps you set realistic expectations, reduce anxiety, and create safer, more supportive sleep rhythms.
As someone with a background education in child development, and as a practitioner who sincerely values the respect of the motherbaby dyad, responsive caregiving, and holistic support, you will find basic information on navigating sleep that is based in a responsive and respectful approach to problem solving.
I do offer individualized, in-depth support for more complex barriers to getting enough rest. Every family is different, but I do not promote extinction/seperation (“cry-it-out“)-based or behaviourism-based sleep guidance, based on my understanding of mental wellness, temperament, attachment, neuro-development, and breastfeeding in this class or in my 1:1 practice.
Many sleep issues can be rooted in gaps in support systems, breastfeeding issues, medical complexities, and complicated by the burdens of capitalism, racism, patriarchy, and so forth; this is why an individualized approach to support is foundational to my approach.
Matrescence; The Transition to Motherhood and Your Changing Identity
Matrescence is the transition to motherhood, which is characterized by radical transformation in our lives, identity, and sense of direction. You’ll gain language for your experience, some beginner tools for exploration of your emerging and evolving self, and a deeper understanding of the transformation you are living through. You can enter postpartum already knowing that snap back is an unattainable goal, and that motherhood is meant to change us. Thrive in and embrace your transition to motherhood, instead of just surviving it.
