About
Taylor Chinenere, IBCLC
Hi, I’m Taylor Chinenere, an International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC), experienced birth and postpartum doula, and someone who holds deep respect for the unfolding journey of new parenthood.
With over a decade of experience and a background in child development, I support mothers and families through the sacred transition into parenthood with a unique blend of clinical skill and intuitive, heart-centered care. My work is grounded in evidence-informed practices, spanning birth, lactation, and postpartum support—while also honoring the emotional, physical, and spiritual transformation of matrescence.
Understanding early development allows me to support not just the feeding relationship, but the entire dynamic between parent and baby-helping families feel more confident, connected, and held.
Parenthood is not just a role; it’s a becoming. I’m here to walk alongside you, offering guidance that is compassionate, clear, and centered on the wholeness of your experience.
Whether you’re navigating a feeding challenge, finding your rhythm after birth, or simply longing to feel more supported in this season, I’m here to hold space for you and your becoming.

The “Official” Stuff…
I’m actively certified as an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) and a Birth and Postpartum Doula, I Initially trained and certified with DONA International through an amazing volunteer doula organization, and I chose not to renew my affiliation as I found DONA’s approach no longer aligned with my values and the direction of my practice.
I hold a Bachelor’s degree (Honours) in Child and Youth Studies from Mount Saint Vincent University, and my background includes over a decade of work experience in early childhood development, special needs, and community family resource.
I’m actively involved in the professional community and ongoing education is important to me. I serve as Chair of the Atlantic Lactation Consultant Association and am a member of the Canadian Lactation Consultant Association, the Nova Scotia Doula Association, the South Shore Perinatal Wellness Collective (as a founding member), and the Lunenburg-Queens Baby Friendly Initiative Committee (where I currently serve as Secretary).
That’s the official part—now for the rest.
My family and I live and work on the South Shore of so-called Nova Scotia, in Mi’kma’ki—the unceded and ancestral territory of the Mi’kmaq people. I’m continually learning how to be in right relationship with this place and its original caretakers. Our life here is simple and seasonal: I tend a flower and vegetable garden at my home, meander farmers markets, explore the coastline, and care for a small flock of hens who keep us well supplied (and well entertained). Hands and knees covered in soil is my favourite state of being, and the land—this land—has a way of tending me right back.
The heart of my work is about being with people in one of life’s most tender and transformative seasons. It’s care that’s both grounded in clinical knowledge and guided by intuition, presence, and compassion. I’m here to walk alongside you as you find your way into new parenthood, one breath, one feed, one moment at a time.
Curious to work together or learn more? Explore my services or book an appointment—I’d love to connect.
This work is personal to me. It’s rooted in lived experience, lifelong learning, and a deep reverence for the sacred transformation that unfolds when a baby is born—and so is a parent.
